I Want cAndy

"If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There's nothing behind it."  - AW

If there ever was a day to celebrate the sweetness of superficiality, it would be today.   So, don't feel bad if you shed a tear watching the final episode of the Hills (we all know it's about the cinematography, anyway...) or intently watched the Kardashian of your choice making tuna salad.  A little candy won't hurt you.  Trust me, I'm a dentist.

Celebrating plasticity, fame and facades, and all things proverbial made new. A very happy birthday to you, Andy.

That's all, really.

American (Ballet Theatre) Idols

Today in Central Park, 230 ballet dancers stood en pointe for one minute and seven seconds, breaking the previous record of 220 dancers.  Their graceful effort helped raise donations for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.
Meanwhile, it took me one minute and seven seconds to retrieve a stubborn eyelash hiding underneath my eyelid. No donations were accepted, but I made a wish. The tutu should be arriving shortly.

Thanks to Martha Stewart via BecomingLola...

Martha says:
To make these tulle lampshades, simply attach a child's tutu to a lampshade ring, and thread onto a bulb-and-socket cord, then hang from the ceiling.

I'm sure her "simply" is a little/lot less messy than mine, but I have no shame in admitting to being a novice.

We've been waiting for you...

The first day of summer is officially today. You now have the right to:
1. Wear blindingly bright shades of nail polish and still be elegant
2. Wear less clothes and not be solicited for favors (New Jersey residents N/A)
3. Not only sing along to a Ke$ha tune in your car, behind the curtain of a dressing room, but now in public!
4. Dress like:  a) your family vacations in Martha's Vineyard
                       b) you walked off the Three's Company set
                       c) 1980 called and they want their wardrobe back

Girls, just remember, look both ways before eating that ice cream in public.
